Congratulations to 2nd year student Sadie Loftus who was awarded 2nd place in the final of the 2022 BD STEM Stars Science competition yesterday, winning €6000 for the school’s Science department. Sadie designed and manufactured a hollow 3D printed glove to allow comfortable hand insertion for people suffering from Raynauds syndrome. It has been designed for an electrode, a heating pad and a stockinette tube liner (tubular bandage) to aid people suffering from reduced blood flow to their limbs. To date there is no cure for Raynaud’s syndrome so Sadie’s invention will help those suffering from this condition.
