Sometimes we do not truly listen to the people we are talking to. We may be considering what we are going to say in reply, or perhaps we are thinking of our own opinions on the subject. We often speak without waiting for the other person to finish.
Next time you start an interesting conversation with a friend or loved one, try listening mindfully.
Focus on really hearing what that person is saying. Look at them as they talk. Listen to the person’s words without judgement or the need to immediately express a view. When you are not being mindful, you can easily be distracted by your own thoughts and don’t concentrate on what the other person is saying.
And here’s something to ponder over: silent.
Wait until the other person has finished talking before you speak.
