New Mural Unveiled in Copsewood

April 29, 2025

This week, renowned muralist Garrett Joyce and his assistant Liam Delaney transformed our school’s handball alleys with a stunning new mural spanning a 64-square-metre wall — a space that had remained unchanged for the past 75 years. It was truly time for a fresh new look!

Over six days of dedicated work, often through challenging weather and 12-hour shifts, the artists brought to life a vibrant, sport-themed mural. Their design beautifully weaves together elements unique to our school: the presence of Don Bosco, our school crest, and a nod to our agricultural surroundings, thanks to our neighbouring Agri College.

Special thanks go to our Agri College colleagues, who generously provided accommodation for the artists. In a lovely gesture of appreciation, Garrett and Liam added four cows to the mural in the final minutes — a fitting tribute to our rural setting.

We are also deeply grateful to the students who contributed design ideas, and to Alan O’Connor, Br. Aswin, and Fr. John Horan for their support and for selecting one of Don Bosco’s most inspiring quotes: “Do good, and you will never regret doing it.” Well done Joe, Keith Purcel and Ben O’Rahilly for priming the wall and getting it ready.

Thank you, Garrett and Liam, for your creativity and commitment. This mural will inspire students for generations to come. Bravo!
