Salesian Secondary College Celebrates Outstanding Leaving Certificate Results and College Placements- Pics

Our school held a special Mass of celebration to honour eight exceptional students who achieved outstanding Leaving Certificate results and secured places in prestigious third-level programmes across Ireland and internationally. The Mass, celebrated by Fr John Horan, Fr Vinn, and Fr Dominic, brought together current 5th and 6th year students, parents, and staff to congratulate Darragh Wale, who will study Mechanical Engineering at University of Galway; Rachel Madigan, who secured a place in Pharmacy at RCSI Dublin; Robert Kearney, who will pursue Chemical & Biochemical Engineering at UL; Oran McNicholas, who will study Engineering at UL; David O’Brien, who will study Engineering at UL; Lily Heelan, who secured a place in Physiotherapy in the Netherlands; Alannah O’Neill, who will pursue Psychology at UL; and Grace Hartigan, who will study Occupational Therapy at Aberdeen, Scotland.
The celebration was made with live music performed by the senior band alongside music teachers Mr Barry, Mr O’Shaughnessy, and Mrs Ronan Hynes, and the Religious Department provided invaluable support throughout the ceremony. Mr Lavin and Mr McGreal presented the honoured students with commemorative presentations recognising their achievements, before the school community gathered for tea, coffee, and treats. The school took this opportunity to congratulate all Leaving Certificate students from last year on their achievements and to express gratitude to the dedicated teaching staff and careers guidance team whose support and expertise proved instrumental in helping students achieve their goals and secure their chosen college places.
The students’ success across diverse fields including engineering, healthcare, and psychology showcases the breadth of talent and ambition within the school community, with several graduates choosing to pursue their studies internationally, reflecting their confidence and adventurous spirit. This event reflected the Salesian ethos of celebrating academic excellence alongside personal growth, faith, and character development all of which defines Salesian Secondary College.
