5k Run

May 18, 2026

On Thursday of last week, we had our annual 5km run for students to encourage fitness, teamwork, and healthy living. The event took place on the 5km route surrounding the school. Students from all year groups participated, along with several teachers. Some of our TY students, LCA1s along with our PE department organised, marshalled and co-ordinated the event.

Before races began, participants completed warm-up exercises led by TY students. The atmosphere was exciting and energetic as everyone prepared for the start. We would like to extend our gratitude to Mr Barry for the music set up.

Some students aimed to finish quickly and compete for top positions (please see post for times/results) while others focused on completing the distance and enjoying the experience.

During the run, teachers and marshalls encouraged participants throughout the course. At the finish line times and results were recorded and a refreshment station provided water and snacks. Many thanks to Mr O’Sullivan for his help with the clock and water station.

At the end of the event, medals, trophies and vouchers were awarded to the fastest runners, best dressed in the fancy dress and the most impressive run of the day. Mr O’Rahilly congratulated all participants for their effort and positive attitude. The 5km run was a successful and enjoyable event that promoted physical activity, confidence, and school spirit. Well done to all!
