Universal Design For Learning- Pics

We are incredibly proud that our school was selected to take part in the National Council for Special Education’s (NCSE) national pilot project on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Over the past two years, staff and students have been engaged in developing and embedding a framework for learning that is inclusive, accessible and appropriately challenging for every learner.
UDL is becoming increasingly important in modern teaching and learning as schools strive to meet the diverse needs of all students. It encourages teachers to design learning experiences that provide multiple ways for students to engage, participate and demonstrate their understanding, ensuring that every learner has the opportunity to succeed and reach their potential.
Last week, we were honoured to present our school’s UDL journey at the national showcase event in Kildare. The Pilot led by teachers Mr. D.Ryan, Mrs C. Rock and Ms C. Scally was a fantastic opportunity for our teachers and students to share their experiences, celebrate the progress made and connect with other schools involved in the initiative. We were also delighted to meet with the Minister of State at the Department of Education and Youth, Michael Moynihan, and discuss the positive impact that UDL is having within our school community.

Being involved in this project has allowed our school to be progressive and at the forefront of educational change. We are grateful to the NCSE for the opportunity to contribute to such an important initiative and proud of the commitment shown by our staff and students throughout the process. We look forward to continuing to build inclusive learning environments where every student can thrive. Special mention to our students Evan, Sean, Sofia, Wkitoria, Mark & Claire who presented so well on the day.
