Well done once again to our U16 boys basketballers who advance to the South West Munster Regional Final after defeating St Joseph’s of Ballybunion. Falling short of this competition last year to Listowel of Kerry, we were well aware of the battle that was ahead of us facing another Kerry opposition. We went full throttle from the very beginning and opened up a 19 – 4 lead in the first quarter. It was always going to be impossible to maintain this intensity and it started to show as time progressed. With some aggressive defending from Ballybunion we found it difficult to put points on the board. The body showed great experience and patience to finally break down this defense. Outstanding shooting from Miguel Azzopardi, Fred Klimas and Connor Ryan saw us lead 37 – 21 coming into the final quarter. It was great to see some of our younger second year students show their mark on the game with Niall Madigan and Cian Dillon also getting on the scoreboard before running out 47 – 29 winners. A very sporting and well contested game. Forward the boys march, forward to the final against close rivals, Mungret.
This game will take place Monday 27th at 1:00 in Fernbank, Limerick. All support is greatly welcomed.
Well done to everyone involved and we wish them all the best in the final next week
