LOCAL JUNK KOUTURE WORLD CHAMPIONS TO FEATURE ON RTÉ’S DIY SOS IRELAND THIS SUNDAY

Our very own Junk Kouture World Designers of the Year are set to hit national television screens again this Sunday, October 11th, featuring in the upcoming episode of RTÉ’s hit show, DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland.

The talented student trio, who recently took the global creative stage by storm with their award-winning design “Carousel Couture,” will appear alongside presenter Baz Ashmawy. The episode captures the incredible community effort to future-proof the home of the Purcell family on the Limerick/Clare border. Junk Kouture World Designer of the Year was won by our fantastically talented students, Lauren O’ Neill, Alex Giltenane and Sarah Kinnane who created the superb Carousel Couture under the guidance of their inspirational teacher Ann Mulcahy.

In a fitting full-circle moment, the students originally constructed “Carousel Couture” using repurposed materials sourced directly from a local building site—including discarded plywood, insulation foam, and old toy animals. This Sunday, they bring that same spirit of community resourcefulness and creative brilliance to the DIY SOS build.

“We are incredibly proud to see our students’ hard work, global success, and community spirit celebrated on a national platform like DIY SOS,” said School Principal Keith O’Rahilly. “Their involvement highlights the amazing things that happen when young creativity meets local support.”
