January 25, 2021

Mindfulness has been around for a long time but lately it seems that everyone is practicing it or talking about it. The benefits are huge.

Mental Health
Positive Emotions

Why not give it a try this week, maybe during lunchtime, after school or just before you relax for the night.

Simple Mindful Techniques include:
a. Pause , take 1-2 deep breaths
b. Look around and name three things close by
c. Now close your eyes and listen to three sounds
d. Bring attention back to your body and silently name three sensationse.eg. warmth, coolness, contracting etc..
e. Silently and with focus – what brings your attention to tastes and smells, is it from memory or can you smell things around you
f. Take 1 -2 deep breaths to finish

Meditation –
Today I am attaching one long meditation(18mins). This is called the body scan meditation and is one of the most popular meditations available. It will give you a deep sense of relaxation and should help you deal with stress and anxiety.

Mindful Story

A Cherokee Parable – Two Wolves

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life… “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. “One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego. “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
“This same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?” The old chief simply replied, “The one you feed.”
