Dear Colleagues,
I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the event that took place over the weekend, the Salesian Cycle Challenge. With nearly 200 cyclists taking part, the day was a huge success and an exercise in community spirit.
Some participants cycled from home to the event, completed the 80k route, and then cycled home again. Others continued on to work in Limerick straight after. We were especially inspired by one remarkable cyclist aged over 80 who joined us for the challenge. All of this effort was in aid of two worthy causes: The Butterfly Club and Aoibheann’s Pink Tie Charity.
Thank you to all of our sponsors in local businesses and to parents and teachers for sponsoring this event.
A huge thank you to our teachers, SNAs, parents, Salesian priests, trainee teachers and volunteer marshals who showed up in full support, encouraging, helping, and cheering on the cyclists throughout the day.
Special thanks must go to the organising committee, whose hard work made this event, not only run seamlessly, but also made it an enjoyable and fun experience for everyone involved. Kevin Geaney, thank you for guiding the team and the event with such dedication and positivity.
Thanks Joe for your work, energy and enthusiasm which is infectious.
And finally, a big thank you to Ceara for leading your team of chefs in providing delicious food and treats that kept everyone going. Your efforts were truly appreciated.
Can I also thank Jayme and Paddy O’Neil for taking Danish students and some of our own on a tour of Castlegregory over the weekend. And finally, well done to the teachers involved in the visiting French students last Friday!!
Regards,
Keith O’Rahilly
